The “Fenghuang Yangzi Culture Village” cultural and tourism project is located downstream of the Tuojiang River Scenic Belt in Fenghuang Ancient Town, with a total investment of about 220 million yuan. It opened to the public in January 2021.
The project includes an indoor live-action interactive experience theater, an original ecological folk leisure experience cultural and creative tourism commercial scenic area, a large-scale international performance, an ethnic culture hotel, folk interactive experience performances and other immersive entertainment experience projects.
The opening ceremony of the 2nd Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference and the 6th China Fenghuang Folk Photography Biennial as well as the 9th Miao Silver Jewelry & Clothing Culture Festival were held in the cultural village in 2023.
Every night, Miao silver jewelry fashion shows, the live-action drama “Border Town” of Shen Congwen (a famous writer in China), and various exciting programs such as Weeding Lament and Hand-waving Dance are performed at the Performing Arts Theater of the culture village, showcasing traditional customs such as Miao and Tujia marriage customs, production and life, and clothing culture to the audience.
Besides, there are stunning intangible cultural heritage performances like Huohu (fire pot) and molten iron fireworks, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the charm of intangible cultural heritage techniques.
The unique collective activities such as singing and dancing with hundreds of people, and water splashing festival, are greatly popular. The waterfall and neon lights blend with each other, achieving the integration of tradition and fashion as well as landscape and technology.
The culture village has become a new brand that enriches the new formats of tourism in Fenghuang in recent years.
